The major argument advanced against this proposal has been that, when the costs are included in the dues, snowbirds would be paying for services that they do not utilize when they are not in SCOV. This is true, but the annual rate of $134.40 is competitive with what many snowbirds are paying now for ½ year’s services. Despite a modest increase in costs, many snowbirds have voiced their support for this proposal, recognizing the benefits to the general SCOV community.
A small percentage of SCOV residents have two trash pickups each week. Republic will not offer a second weekly pickup as an option. Thus, those wishing a second weekly pickup would have to arrange for this with an alternative contractor and at their own expense.
