Tuesday, 11/27 @ 10 AM. Once again, a great topic from the museum in the Activity Center/Native American rooms. The topic of discussion and presentation is "The Impressionists and their Impact on the Art World". Impressionism was the 19th century art movement that defied tradition and transformed art in France and the rest of the world. We will discuss the Impressionists' influence, even today, on the art world. No charge for this event.
Did you know there was a Civil War battle in AZ? Yep! The Battle of Picacho Peak, on April 15, 1862. It was fought between a Union cavalry patrol from California and a party of Confederate pickets from Tucson, and marks the westernmost battle of the American Civil War.
On November 17, if you like Civil War re-enactments, you will not want to miss this event that will take place at Picacho Peak State Park, located approximately 45 min North of Tucson.
Come watch the re-enactments which include living history demonstrations interpreting military lifestyle of the soldiers in the southwest during the 1860s.
